The Politics of Nursing
I am certain that most nurses out there would agree that certain aspects of the health care system sometimes gets in the way of direct patient care. As a front line nurse, it is sometimes frustrating to not be able to do something for a patient especially when I know that is what is best for the patient/patient's family. I think my main motivation for continuing to advocate for my patients (despite all the politics) is my desire to maximize the well-being and quality of life of my patients. It is because of the patients that I am able to work in my chosen profession and so I make an effort to remain dedicated to the patients each and everyday! What helps you to give care despite the challenges that politics sometimes creates?
